During this period, Michael is wearing the same grey coat during his gigs... look at several Steps videos on You tube or at the Jam when he play Sonymoon For Two^^

Within reason. The mouthpiece is a Dukoff D9 with LaVoz Medium Reeds and a Harrison ligature (like Sanborn!)and he probably picked an exceptional one from Dukoff's factory in Miami or was given one to try by Bobby himself. Heard it said that this mouthpiece was what the Guardala was based on - minus the small chamber. Point being, I couldn't see someone of his caliber ever picking substandard equipment. He was too smart for that. His playing was the tops so why wouldn't his equipment be also?

He is using david sanborn's set up in this video.

Yup. Man, I just love the sound that came out of his horn, rolling up and down the scales. And all these years thought he was over-rated. Got to be one of the greatest tenor soloists ever!

noticed that brecker ain't usin his brecker mouthpiece.. it just shows that even if he had a mouthpiece made out of silicone he still would sound amazing. "a mouthpiece dosen't make you...you make the mouthpiece.."

Whoa. Listen to Stan Robinson's tenor solo on "Mother" from Maynard Ferguson's Album M.F. HORN 2, and you'll hear some similarities in the red-hot blowing of both tenor players.

Fantastic solo. I went home and transposed the solo as much as I could, then had my ex-wife play the chords changes on her piano. WOW! I went cooking like Brecker and Menza playing my own solo.

Maybe that's why Howard Johnson played his solo on penny whistle (instead of the bari) after Brecker. lol

Surprise ! Amazing to discover André Villéger close to Michael Brecker. I would never thought about finding both of them in the same band ! Bravo André. |
