LEARN MORE ABOUT FORMULA 1 DRIVING: http://www.edmunds.com/insidel... the throttle and feel the V10 take a slurp of air as the revs rise from their idle at 6,000 rpm. The noise is angry, urgent, brutal and yet majestic. The vibration shivers the carbon-fiber tub in which I'm sitting and then scurries down my spine. Concentrate. Think. Extend a right digit as you grip the steering wheel; give the right shift paddle a flick to engage a cog. It's like learning to drive all over again. Heart pumping, I ease out the clutch, feeling for the biting point, anticipating the first sign of forward motion, wanting it so badly. The wheels start to move, the clutch is out and the engine is still alive!I let out a high-pitched yelp of delight that's uncomfortably girly. I am living the dream; I am driving a Formula 1 car.

I also think the electronics are more more basic and possibly form the GP2 car. I think this because the steering wheel is not the original and far more basic. Also if indeed the GP2 engine and gear box have been used, coupling them to the GP2 electronics would be the logical step.

The second thing I think may have happened is they have indeed adapted the Renault 4 litre v8 engine used in the GP2 series. This engine produces 580hp, revs at 10,000rpm and has to be rebuilt every 4000km. Were the RS23 engine produced around 850hp, reved at 18,000rpm and had to be rebuilt every 300km. I think this is more likely as the engine could be started strait away. An F1 engine takes 2 hours to warm up!

However I do agree something is not quite rite with the engine. I think one of two things has happened. Firstly the original RS23 has been set to rev lower. This would be done to increase the engine life, otherwise it would have to be rebuilt after 300kms. The guy even says at the start the car has 700hp when the RS23 engine produced around 850hp!

Well the chassis is a Renault R23, as used by Fernando Alonso for his maiden win in Hungry 2003. The chassis has been painted in the current livery with ING logos etc.
