Can this work with Gnome?How can you select multiple windows? Because... What if two texts are selected, and you press Ctrl+C (or Ctrl+Insert), which one gets copied?

The point is not to support multiple mice but multiple ponters, which is required for multi-touch displays... that way you can operate the desktop with all ten fingers. Imagine a live-DJ mixing app with that...
