nah! i think you r wrong...the main movie is about the factory and then the background story enhances it...also i realy cant see many serious moments in this film....and the music i think is much more sinister which is supose to fit the atmosphere of the story...

I mean he just took it to serious with the songs and the acting, like the songs just overpowered the movie and the acting was too dramatic or serious, plus the movie really didn't deal with the factory, it was really based on wonka's problem with candy and problems with his dad, so instead of calling it "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", it should have been called "Wonk's Childhood Problems!"

no offense to Tim Burton but, he just went to dramatic in this movie, im sorry but the old one is better.

All the songs of the older version were the same.Different songs are better.And this one is great. Second only to Mike Teavee's.
