Manirathnam chose AR Rahman 4 this film bcoz the musical maestro Ilayaraja was busy with other films...AR Rahman was an assistant of Ilayaraja...the legend was born from this movie...even the lead actor role was opted for Rajiv menon....but he was not interested in acting in movies, then mani chose Arvindswamy...

Mani Ratnam does wonders with the camera. Very good direction and A.R. Rahman adds the icing to the cake as usual.

this movie was indeed a revolutionary one in indian cinema..it changed the face of indian music n catapulted it to the international stage..talented work by A.R.Rahman..e part where Madhoo opens her eyes to look at the mountains is jus priceless.. i was lost for words..god bless a.r.rahman
