There's questions we're always hearing every where we goLike how do I cut a record or get on a country showWell, it takes more than just ambition and three chords on an old guitarThere's a few more thing you ought to learn to be a country star. You have to learn to sing like Waylon or pick like Jerry ReedYodel like Jeannie Shepard write songs like Tom TPut a cry in your voice like Haggard learn Spanish like Johnny RWhisper like Bill Anderson and you'll be a country star.Play piano like Ronnie Milsap or Gilley or Jerry LeeYo-yo like Roy Acuff or talk plain like Ralph EmeryGrowl like Conway Twitty get a red white and blue guitarBuild a swimming pool like Webb did and you'll be a country star.Be tall like Sonny James or tell jokes like Minnie Pearl Be short like Jimmy Dickens or play five-string like Earl Get a head band like Willie learn to stutter like a-Mel Get a cap like Roy Clark wore or a voice like Barbara Mandrell.Be rich like Eddy Arnold say you're making more than you areGet a gimmick like Charley Pride got and you'll be a country star. But if you have no talent and you're not a maleIf you're built somewhat like Dolly or have a face like Crystal GayleCome back stage and ask for Harold, Phil, Don or LewAnd we'll see you auditioned for the Statler Brothers Review...

I remember seeing them sing this on the CMA Awards and LOVED it! In spite of what my user name says, Barbara Mandrell is actually my all-time favorite entertainer (been a fan since '76!), so I was THRILLED that she got a mention in this song! Re: my user name, I've always loved Lynn Anderson's music (and hate it that she DIDN'T get a mention in the song! LOL!) but I'm a fairly new "serious" fan of hers. I first got on here in search of Lynn videos, hence the name. THE STATLERS ROCK!!!!!
