This is the best version I have ever heard of this aria -it has so much power and feeling that it can almost make me cry. Wonderful! thanks for posting it!

This is, as many of you already have stated, perhaps the most beautiful version of this song, as far as I'm concerned, anyway. I just happen to think Troyanos is a singer I'd fall for, though I've only heard her in the Bernstein conducted version of "West Side Story" in the past.

You should hear the rendition sung by Jessye Norman.

This is truly the most beautiful rendition of this aria I have ever heard. Her voice pierces the soul with its sadness.

Well done for all these recordings margotlorena. This is a terribly beautiful song. A some brilliant renditions.

So far this is the best recording/singer I've heard on this aria!

Her technique is mighty 19th century for this 17th century aria, but her musicality and her total involvement in the text (as always) make this an adorable version of the aria. Thanks for posting!

She is the BEST!!! She really understands the song from within, does not have recourse to cheap tricks and does not make it more pathetic than it should be (like Norman). I am in love with this version of the song.
