Not to mention a shot from Blade Runner, where a snapshot of Rachel as a child suddenly animates, just like in this film. How's that for geek trivia?

The stills were shot with a Pentax, the cine scene was 35mm. A shoddy trasnfer to video can make anything seem like it originated on video.
