The reason for the poor state of modern Russia, is due to the oligarchs of Yeltsin, the idiotic reforms of Gorbachev and Krushcev's choices during the Cold War, which were not beneficial to the Russian state.

The Polish hostility dates to the time around the reign of Ivan the Terrible, or slightly earlier. But the combined attack of both the attack of Poland by a combination of Russian and German forces, was instrumental in modern hostitlities. Plus if Poland did not participate in NATO, international relations between the countries will improve.

Division after Division perished before the German onslaught, and within a short amount of time the Germans were within 40 km of Moscow. Newly conscripted recruits were sent to defend Moscow, defend their freed, their families, their country and their glory. These soldiers were sent to combat the battle hardened Germans. Ten Russians died for every one German. The Battle of Moscow was the first major defeat of the German Army.Had it not been for Stalin, defeat for Russia was imminent.

After the start of World War 2, Stalin refused to believe his spies that stated that Hitler was planning an assualt on Russia. Stalin thought he was protected by the Non agression pact signed between Russia and Germany. The German imminent attack was denied, until the Germans attacked and started pushing through Russia at an unprecedented speed. Russia was unprepared. It's military equipment was outdated, soldiers untrained and the army was in poor condition.

FYI roots of Poland's hostility (althou reluctance would be probably more appropriate term) towards Russia goes much further then any of WW and probably even further then partition of this country lead by Russia, Prussia and Austria and appear to be understandable yet I am Polish and im aware that my opinion would never be treated objectively..

If I look at the state of ex Soviet Union now and over last century.. elaboration seems to be unnecessary just like stating that one of the world greatest criminals was a hero who saved us from nasi..

that he may hurt or even kill them as he was as i said very paranoid & not exactly stable.

im sorry but i don't agree with you either, i may be young & may not know as much as others yet..but i was taught or learnt that actually it was under Lenins power that Trotsky reformed the red guard into the incredibly efficient red army, also maybe Stalin did improve some things in Russia but he was paranoid & very unstable..i mean on the day he died, it was at least four hours before anyone would at least venture into his room to find him dead because they were afraid if they disturbed him.. |
