what I meant was that hoff may not be older but she is more experienced. Perhaps I should have said that new blood will always come along and take on the challenge. That said, I doubt that anyone will challenge micheal phelps for a while, like Ian thorpe he will dominate for some time

What are you talking about mate Hoff is a year younger then Rice 19 and 20 respectivly. However you are right hoff didn't choke she was just off her PB by 3 or 4 tenths, which was not fast enough on the day.

Hoff did not chock, she just was not as good as rice. Like all things in life , younger people come up and take the place of previous winners. In this case that was what happened.

Stephanie Rice won the 400IM on the big stage in Beijing and in WR time to take GOLD not Silver juandi2570, looks like we aussies got the last laugh LMAO! Steph smashed Hoff's WR mark she posted in this vid to claim what was rightfully hers to begin with ie a Olympic Gold Medal and her WR back in Aussie hands, Katie Hoff choked yet again to take Bronze behind Coverntry!Stephanie is the Queen of the 400IM right now, Steph you bloody beauty :)
