Hey Alex2363,I was lucky enough to grow up in a farm town in Indiana. The Pacers were it and we got to see them on TV and highlights of the ABA on the News. Basketball was king in Indiana! When the Doctor showed up I became a fanatic and collected scrap books of Dr. J stories and photos. Still got em. Dr. J in the ABA was like an Eagle Soaring over a Canyon. People don't realize how spectacular and awe inspiring the Doctor was. We rooted for the Pacers and the Doctor to score 50.

ndmike you one lucky man to experience all that, i wish you would have recorded it for us hardcore doc fans,lol...i think i saw that brian winters play too. plus the other one he made between the arms of sindney moncrief and winters. he went up stayed in the air forever (and nowhere to go)when both bucks put their arms up to defend doc went between their armpits and flicked it in, the ball looked like it vanished but it went in the hoop like magic...it was awsome.

#3 I got tickets for Christmas for Moses Malone's first game back at the Houston Summit after the trade to Philly. The Doctor scored 29 in the first half but the play of the game was the Doctor did an around the world flying one hander over a Rocket player that hit the floor right in front of me so hard that the ball ripped over my head at what seemed like 300 MPH. I had Floor seats under the basket.

#1 The Windmill slam dunk in the playoffs where Dr. J took off from the right side then whipped the ball from his ankles slamming the ball over Larry Bird, Rick Robey and Dave Cowens. A game against the Pacers in the ABA where he grab the rebound and went through the entire Pacer Team then took off from behind the foul line for the dunk.

In the ABA the Doctor had a blocked shot where he went to block a fastbreak on the left side of the rim when the player passed to a player on his right and the Doctor did a 180 while in the air and blocked the layup on the right side with his left hand. The play was against the St. Louis Spirits. Never saw anything like it!

The Doctor is the only player I have ever seen to block a shot, get the rebound and pass off for an assist without touching the ground. He did it on Brian Winters of Milwaukee in the playoffs. Winters was on the left side going up for a jump shot when the doctor jumped from just to the right of Winters and blocked the shot, grab the ball while in still in the air and hit Maurice Cheeks with a behind the back pass for a layup down court and he never touched the ground during the entire play.

he was a great shot blocker too. i think he made the best blocks i seen in a player. he would block a shot and make it look like he was swatting a fly. and he would make those blocks mostly when the game was on the line. i don't know why he never made more all defense teams. his steals and blocks always
