Actually, he's doing Pro mode, but the first half of the game doesn't use the triggers at all, so you could get a preview of sorts even without your triggers, perhaps determine if your DS is worth getting replaced/fixed from there. I'd say band bros. alone made the purchase of the DS (original/ly), worthwhile for me.
