I disagree with michio on this one too. Tests have shown that most people around the world, would not panic if this were to ever happen.

I think..being spoon fed a little bit of info at a time would be a better thing...and wed have to forgive the people that hurt other people to keep this info secret. Or else we will not rise above our current selves.

Dr. Kaku has a solid point about not revealing ET's existence to the public. We naturally desire to know the truth of course but in reality there are major advantages not knowing it. I mean we just dont say "oh so they are here. oh well its good to know the truth. its time to head home and cook dinner." there may be world financial and religious issues to tackle. I beg to disagree on people so sure when they say ET's will be welcomed open hand and everything will be fine for sure.

As a Long time fan of Dr Kaku, it was heartbreaking to me when it dawned on me that perhaps he is a, gulp... Neocon?? It makes perfect sense, he is always talking about the Elites of society, and refers to the public in a condescending manner such as imagining we would all just freak out and panic... What they are truly worry about is the breakdown of their control over us...

What make you think there would be panic?The possibility of intelligent life elsewhere is greater than the possibility of no intelligrnt life elsewhere, wouldn´t people already panic? There would be no panic!Why can´t people get that?And, on the other hand, what make you think a higher civilization would want to engage in contact with our governments?

No, what I am saying is we have the right to know, this could be the most significant event in the whole of humanity. The majority of the world are sane and wouldn't butcher each other. How do we get the advantage of contacting a higher civilization? Wouldn't it only be the military and the police? Do you really think our governments would intentionally try to help us with something we have no clue about? Are you saying you would sacrifice people due to this event? |
