An adaptation of Alan Warner's novel, Morvern Callar is directed by Lynne Ramsay and stars Samantha Morton. A rich and intriguing story unfolds as we follow Morvern's journey from a prosaic life on the remote Scottish coast to self-abandonment and re-invention in the sun drenched vistas of Spain. ~homemade editing

but it wasn't trying to be a plot-driven movie, so a person shouldn't judge it by that criteria. It was a character study and a mood piece. I think it was excellent for what it was.

The soundtrack was great and so was the cinematography, but the plot was so boring. Ratcatcher was much better.

"Dedicated to the One I Love" by The Mamas and the Papas. Check out the ending credits of the movie.

Actually I think they did a shot in there, someone wrote their name on the whiteboard in huge letters, I wonder if that made it into the film :DI know they did a few shots in town aswell IIRC a small alleyway along George Street, which is the main street in Oban. I remember now seeing bits of this on BBC2 a few years back, wish I'd watched the whole thing :P

Can't say anything about her really, all I saw was one take they did. It was in the freezer aisle, can't remember if she was the only one in shot or not. I think they did most of the shooting at night, the store scenes were in an actual supermarket. It was a Kwik Save store but it's now a Lidl.Though I do recognise a few of the store shots , like at 1:14. That door she goes through doesn't really lead anywhere :PThere's the toilets, the back door and the smallest staffroom you've ever seen.

I finally got around to reading the book after buying it a few years ago. Really enjoying it so far. Would love to see the movie.I remember when they came to Oban to shoot some of that. The Penny Saver store is actually the old Kwik Save where I used to work :P
