I agree that its a shame that they didn't reach a wider audience. I will say, though, that I think their appeal will survive as well as their influence. THey were so fortunate to have met each other and made such amazing music together and I think they realized that. Just to have participated in that performance must have been a thrill beyond belief. This movie is a cultural treasure of American Music. Thanks to Mr. Scorcese!

this is perhaps the best music video ever. The Staples are amazing, and the Band is the Band. Cleotha Staples says it at the end: "Beautiful!"Hats off the Scorcese as well. Outstanding.
