Brendel playing beethoven piano concerto n°3 in C minor, op.37, first movement (allegro con brio), with claudio abbado, and the Lucerne festival Orchestra.I posted the same concerto by zimerman. Brendel is very good, but zimerman is still my reference. everyone who has seen this video will agree with me. his cadenza is outstanding. brendel's version is still great, he is one of my reference too !for the orchestra, i prefer bernstein who is a little more passionate, but abbado makes the orchestration clearer

(cont.) ...East-European artists. Mainly because of the difference in price (some 25 dollars vs 2), I picked the latter cd, with no regret. As compared with Pollini, von Karajan, Brendel, Abbado, Gulda, Böhm, Arrau, you name them, those less known musicians have nothing to envy them. I fully agree with ballhawkk and masterofmyfate31: life is too short to argue about the greatness (?) of interpreters. Either you like them or you don't. In both cases, just relax and enjoy the music. tatataaaaaaa!

As a newcomer to youtube, I have been reading comments on videos with increasing interest at the outset, but rapidly diminishing now. I think it really does not make any sense to argue about the greatness of certain musicians. One day in a music store, there were 2 cd's of the music I was looking for. One of them showed world-famous names of the recording studio, the orchestra, the conductor, and the soloist. The other one was made by unknown East-European artists ...(please see my next posting)

for anyone who loves this concerto: try and find the recording with bernstein conducting and serkin as the soloist. It literally rocks. the passion, the power, the vitality, the precision--it's all there. Plus serkin is such an accomplished pianist that he can take it at a tempo most soloists don't, which just lends to the recording's sheer awesomeness. i love no. 3, and this recording was a pleasure to listen to, but serkin and bernstein are still my favorites. peace.

a very very peaceful contribution between the piano and the orchestra, in which, Abbado, did a gd job in balancing the upper and lower strings.

strings, wood, metal, black spots on paper... can turn to such a miracle through human hand and spirit... thanks...

Beethoven did the word with spirit.Abado do it with hart. somtimes he smiles, and sure he enjoys, when playing some parts.

the conductor i find very strange. I'm not really sure if i like his conducting style but he must be damn good to have directed this amazing interpretation

Uhmm Essercizimusici I think : Was......on recent years he changed behavior, sometimes too much parafernalia. In this video he is a little kind of lang lang conductor. What happen? Stupidity is menacing even great musicians................This video is pretty weird, the 2nd class Beethoven player (Brendel) with a "New wave" Abbado.what´s happening?.666

I think Abbado ist most natural musical conductor have ever been. He is pure music and talent.

What made this great conflict and struggle only Beethoven and diligence in expression than in the mind wander bolder doing in its relations emerged signs deafness in his ears, but also pave the fifth Symphony because they simply from the same place CNN minor and also similar ideas but the greatest Symphony because recent dialogue between Beethoven and God
