It doesn't have anything to do with music. But people are visual creatures. If you look at the charts, it's clear that many people prefer style over substance. Unfortunately. I only brought up Emma Pollock's looks to defend her honour, myself :p

I've never understood what looks had to do with music.. Before the advent of music videos and such, there were tons of incredibly successful musicians who were considered .. well.. viciously unappealing. Keith Richards? Steve Howe? I just don't understand how it could possibly be relevant to the creation of music. Emma has a great voice, an excellent sense of melody, and is a top-notch songwriter. That's all that matters. .. Though the songwriting was arguably better with the Delgados. :/
