How was it immoral? They were desecrating the temple. If you came back to your home and found a bunch of people spraypainting the walls, selling drugs at kitchen table, ect--would you throw them out or would you say, "I respect your right to private propery," and go on with your normal routine? They had no business being there. Assuming that the Romans had laws about the protection of private property (which I doubt), God's laws came first. And the moneylenders broke those laws. End of story.

Jesus overturned the money lenders tables - thereby violating their right to private property. We can argue about whether it was right or not for them to be lending money, but that is irrelevant for our purposes. Overturning their tables was immoral, whether we agree with what they did or not.

I'm repeating my previous post because I think it's an appropriate response to this post:Actually, if you think about it, a song from a cannibal movie is rather appropriate given that the Holy Communion is simulated cannibalism (eat my flesh, drink my blood). Also, christianity has always had the habit of "devouring" other religions and cultures.

Why are you trying to make a religious video out of a song written for a movie about a cannibal? Don't get me wrong - I love the song - but to associate it with Christianity would be as associating Plato with Christianity. While the two share common themes, they were written for different purposes, different audiences, and with different levels of authority. |
