couldn't you make a bridge rectifier to change the ac current into dc current using a several diodes or leds

That's pretty cool, but it won't last long. Rodents chew on anything and everything. Those wires will be destroyed in a day or two.

Actually, you can connect the LED directly to the mouse. Just remember where to stick the anode...
