retarded? "can't sing live"? first of all studio-material is processed a million times with a multitude of effects, using several tricks to make the vocals sound like the artist, producer or whatever wants it to sound like. Thus studio-versions of a song should not be compared to live, lightly... Live you only get a single try, obviously. James Mercer is an excellent singer, he hit practically all the notes and the backing vocals from the rest of the band was nice too! Hail the Shins! :D

sweet...his voice is pretty good live but not the greatest. they make it sound awesome tho. i love the drummer lol he makes the sticks look sooooo small

Dont get me wrong, I think this is an incredibly song, but he just can't sing live at all. They seemed stiff yeah, but if I had to listen to that live, I'd be wincing.

The lamest part of this is that if someone had done this track as mediocre as this on YouTube as a cover they'd get assraped by Shins fans for not doing the vocals properly.

i like this version, has a cool subtle beat to it..i prefer studio Shins but this is a cool performance.

Well I think they sound terrific live, I think they just lack that certain energy that makes live performances special and get the crowd into it. Awesome band though. Shame on that crowd. Great Performance. |
