Kind of. But there are plenty of guitarists who are just jack offs and like to stroke their own ego by showing people they can do ridiculous technical things that really don't evoke any emotion or deep reaction from the listener (outside of the "wow, that's pretty skillful).

i love how people try and say that one guitarist plays from the heart more than another. who is anyone to say that? frusciante, satriani, vai, they all play from their hearts and express themselves in different.

maybe frusciante is not that fast ... but he surely is up to date about the guitar and all that stuff which is according to that. in my opinion vai is a great guitarist... for the love of god, a great song.... but frusciante hits the notes which you can feel, pure emotion. expressing emotions is a lot easier for him with a guitar than verbal! ... but right, its not a competetion, so shut up:P and listen to that great music!!! :) *listen*
