And if you want to talk about tax cuts when looking at the amount of income people make, the top 1% still pay more than any other group. From IRS Data.Income Group - Tax RateTop 1 percent - 27.25 percentTop 5 percent - 22.95 percentTop 10 percent - 20.51 percentTop 25 percent -- 16.99 percentTop 50 percent - 14.66 percentBottom 50 percent - 3.21 percent The data shows that the rich are still paying tax rates as high as they were during the Clinton administration while making less.

Taxpayers with an AGI of $153,542 or more in 2006 constituted the nation's top 5 percent of earners. Or according to the wonderful news station CNN 161,000, and according to the US Census Bureau 167,000. Simple to say that makes up the top 5% of America. Obama can't reform Wall Street anymore than McCain can. Both have lobbyists and to think otherwise is ignorant.
whatnowgop (September 19, 2008 at 5:22 am)
The top five percent does not make 150 thousand or more. The top five percent is more like a quarter million or more. No one is taking anything away from them. They had a temporary tax break from Bush for seven years. Now the ones making less that that will be the bigger tax break while Bush's tax break expires. McCain can't reform wall street when he has 150 or more lobbyist working in his campaign. Only after he made that mistake did he flip flop.
ibunkerpeople (September 19, 2008 at 5:09 am)
The point is you don't take from the rich and give to the poor. This top 5 percent of America you talk about makes 150,000 dollars or more, so we should take from them MOST hardworking Americans to make it fair for the others below. I don't like the government taking over any company and what is going is terrible. McCain even stated that we needed to reform Fannie and Freddie in 06. If I'm not mistaken Obama received campaign contributions from them as well. Hm.
whatnowgop (September 18, 2008 at 11:45 pm)
What do you call the bail out of 180 billion dollars to investiment and banking systems? What do you call the Government taking over Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae? Is that socialism on the opposite end of the scale? You distribute the people's money to the richests. That Corporate welfare and Fascism.

Redistributing the wealth is socialism...
