One of the best songs of the 20th century

I had the record (when they still had records) and I played it all the time. I wonder what happened to it.

You're right. I have nothing against sampling but artists need to be honest and give 'credit where it's due'. Where would P Diddy and Jay Z be without sampling??

Sampling was not considered illegal, but Sugar Hill actually claimed that they wrote and played the music. That could be considered plagiarism (as a minimum). If they knew that they re-recorded and section of Nile and Bernard's performance and rapped over it, why did they not list them as the writer/performers of the music? Reason: The same reason students try to copy from a book or an encyclopedia and then attempt to take credit for someone else's work...

I've played loud rock for 20 years & have only recently found what a great fucking sound Nile Rodgers has...not loud, but clean & has great propulsion.

Rapper's Delight Illegally used this actual track and have since had to add Nile and Bernard's names to the copyright. They (RD) actually tried to claim that their music was coincidentally just like this song (even the violin parts, drum sounds, piano, etc.)..Imagine Rapper's Delight without this music behind the rap (Not quite so wonderful then, huh)?
