1/3rd of Indian population lives below poverty line, that's a drag on economy for every welfare money spent by Govt to support such population. The rest 2/3rd constitute the middle class and upper middle class of which around the top 2% brains leaves India for far greener pastures.

This is one of the most balanced and well spoken view about India from a Non-Indian for a long time now. The thing Indians have to understand, most important aspect of any country is its human capital. Forget about land, technology and other factors of production. The reason USA is ahead of the rest of world is because it is rich in human capital, being able to attract the best brains in the world to its Universities and its Economy.
