The other day, I went to an honors lecture about the international community of jazz, and I wondered why I never saw women as jazz instrumentalists. when was the last time you saw a woman playing a trombone? I do not discount the voice as an instrument, but I am curious about responses to the question of " why are women only vocalists in jazz?" I know why somewhat, but feel that if there is not a documented reason, there needs to be one. Thank you.

I remember when I was 13, Peggy was my idol. She still is one of my favorite singers ever - a one in a million voice.

Peggy was the kind of sexy that didn't need to be vulgar or suggestive. She just let her voice say it.And Benny...YAY BENNY!

There are still real artists playing real music out there, but you probably won't find them by watching cable or listening to corporate radio. With that said... if I hear one more song with pitch-corrected vocals, I am going postal

The whole band hated him because he was so strict and controling. Constant practice and performance. Pursuit of the music. He would even forget their names sometimes. But as soon as they heard him play that clarinet, all was forgiven. One time he fired the whole band! |
