John's out of town but I can answer for him: when soloing, definitely do not play the scale in order from C to B. Instead play riffs which are melodies created from the scale. We have a YouTube (YT) video called "scales vs. riffs" using the pentatonic scale, and have 4 pentatonic scale riff lessons as well. It is similar for the diatonic scale. There is a diatonic riff on YT, and we're going to add a second one soon.-jc

This scales and the harmonic scales are used in solos right? i know its a noob question i started guitar 2 weeks ago and im a self tought and im doing well. How should i use this in solos? from C to B or just random notes?

They are the same. We use the full name "major diatonic scale" to distinguish this 7 note scale from the 5 note major pentatonic scale.-jc

Pretend to be writing music that becomes a dream come true. Create as much variation as possible and listen to everyone that plays music not just guitarists.....
