they are not even , and you can tell by the stick height. But more importantly, it's a matter of experience and the ear that developes with it. Really, any rudiment one plays should be able to be excuted 1.with power 2. evenly rhythmically. It's really that simple

It's a single stroke roll. Anything with flams would be uneven rhythmically, but what he's playing is smooth, hand-to-hand.

sorry checked out, quarter note =about 145
JazzSage23 (April 10, 2008 at 6:46 am)
yaaa alright ill finish what i was saying. Just before 1:17(just b4) he throws in "reversal flams". Meaning grace note leftR/grace note rightL. In the manner of (1e+a2e+a [FLAM ACCENT] 3e+a4e+a [FLAM ALTERNATING] ) say quarter note=230 round there. And look u can tell he's thinking about it b4 he does it up (he nodes his head up and down)like....." Oh ok ill do it that way, this ell show em who's got the biggest pipes!"
JazzSage23 (April 10, 2008 at 6:19 am)
In case anyone thought that 1:10 to 1:24 is a full out single stroke roll. It isnt. but a hell of a modulation. The beginning is, but at the "mok speed" it is transitioned into "the flam accent". The shit hits the fan at 1:14, thats where he changes sticking to the flam accent. Only the best of em can fool ya. And only the best of em do it!
