Terry wanted to leave the show. The episode was HORRIBLE: Jadzia could have died in the battle of Chin'toka, sacrificing herself for a noble cause, like Spock once did. And the 2nd mistake: the introduction of Ezri, the new Dax host for the last season, the worst idea and the worst character in DS9.

I heard she quit to do other things but on the DVD set (I'm sorry I dont know which because I dont own it..YET!) she said she regrets killing her charactor because she felt it was the best she ever played.
