I remember an episode in Pesaro. During le Nozze di Teti he had sung a miraculous messa di voce and a fan congratulated him on it. He simply said that one has to do something! Lol! So humble!

You must be proud! I followed him around Europe for years and now I miss him so much. Her performances were always thrilling. And after these demanding roles he was always extremely down to earth and ready to chat to his fans about music.
