Look at my channel to the first video, for the history of New York (Nieuw Amsterdam)...By the way weed is allowed so the police and the Dutch goverment have control over it,otherwise it moves into the streets and the underground like in other countries and you have totally no control over the situation(the same with prostitution)Maybe Holland is ahead of its time with many things, but you must know exactly the situation before you judge it(Holland is so much more than than this last subject)

they didnt fail at all :S.. England just conquered NY. Amsterdam was in the 1600's the New York it is nowadays. People from all over the world lived there, lots of different cultures. Btw, Amsterdam has still more variation of culture than NY got nowadays. (probably due to the fact that weed is allowed :)

The Dutchman Peter Stuyvesant established a Dutch 'trading company' on what is now called Manhattan in the 17th century (he called it Nieuw Amsterdam). More Dutch settlers came and out of that 'what is now called' New York developed. ps. The Dutch were the first who recognised the United States of America as a independent nation after the 'war of independence' with England...Greetings from Holland...
