and live isnt like that in Sakhalin. Im was born there and lived til 2003. The live in south is premuch as good as in western russia. yes, north is poor and looks like shithole, because noone builds and lives there because there are no jobs(because americans are working on oil and do not hire russians).

ok hows sakhalin japanese? Antom Chehov discovered it in 1800s and native people are called Nanti(same race as people of siberia). Its been russian territory ever since. Then japanese attacked east russia like in 1920s and controlled most of it until end of WW2. Then russians took it back. Now how is it japanes? its as much japanese as african

i dont think this documentary is still relevant coz ive seen one show on discovery channel ("really big things") and it shows that Gazprom is already in charge of the whole sakhalin energy development. im also a big fan of journeyman documentaries but ive seen many of them have certain tendencies and not covering both sides of the story.

Probably the most important issue about Sahalin is that Shell took that Island as their own property and when Russian inspection came,English security did not even let them off their ship.Nevertheless, when inspection guys finally got on the island and asked Russian local govnmt why Shell is acting as an owner here? The answer was:"they control this island and every paper,every agreement must first go through them(shell)".What is it? English colonial behavior??It's not going t work in Russia :)

what a fuck..ing lie :) Look, by showing the distance of Sachalin from Russia, they try to create an image that it doesn't even belong to Russia:) I wonder why didn't he talk about the woods which shell got from the island and never pay for??what about the total distruction of the nature?and the Yeltsin's agreement that Russia must pay to Shell for all their time spent "installing the infrustructure" hah?why?yankees!!We're NOT africa-don't even try to "bring" your fake "freedom and civilization"
