Well I don't know what Jaco normally plays (I've never heard of him till just now actually) but that's 100% the sound of a fretless bass, so I'd say they're just fret lines.

i think victor wooten is better, and i dont know how u can make an argument against that. but its what jaco brought to the plate that makes him so good. Buddy rich wasnt the best drummer, he i just praised for his drumming because he pioneered big band/jazz drumming. if everyone can play play his stuff now, hes no longer the best. jaco was the best yes. but he is now an icon, and he will go down as the best because he showed the world a new meaning to the electric bass.
