I met Steve at a Namm convention maybe 8 years ago. He was a very funny and engaging guy. I'm a big fan and when he signed my promo photo I was shocked to find out that the guy is left handed! I had no idea and he said he had to practice a lot to get that down. Later that night I flipped my guitar over and tried practicing. What an obstacle it must be. Steve Morse telling me that is like God slapping you with his bad hand haha. He has the best work ethic in the business.

That's very hard to do if you anchor and play with 3 fingers like most people here D:

"reaching your full potential is being able to play effortlessly, relaxed and without a high risk of injury :)" But if you are able to do that, why not stretch your skill and imagination even more and set the bar even higher than that?

Shawn and Guthrie are so much more versatile than Shred, have you actually checked some of their videos :P?

Paul Gilbert is a shredder #4 Top Shredders of All Time by GuitarOne's.Steve Morse "Best overall guitarist 5 years in a row" and has so many more styles the gilbert and the names you listed. man.... its shredding, and i don't care much about it.

That's kind of an insult to Shawn, Paul, and Guthrie, who OUTSKILL him in every way totally =XI'm a big Steve Morse fan and even I know that.

Considering my former teacher who taught me that advice was a GUTHRIE GOVAN student, I think it's pretty legit. And of course Steve Morse can play me underneath a table wimpy, but he can't even touch Paul Gilbert, Shawn Lane or Guthrie, who ALL play unanchored and don't suffer from any discomfort or carpal tunnel syndrome. And let's face it you two, you both know JACK shit about Guitar Technique, anchoring creates TENSION, even if you can't feel it, it's still there.

don't mean to be rude but the comment "That's not reaching your full potential, reaching your full potential is being able to play effortlessly, relaxed and without a high risk of injury :)" if the most stupid thing i have ever heard,by the way did your guitar teacher say that???
