This song isn't about jesus or god - its about all of the people in history who stood up for what's right when no one else would. It's about people like Ghandi and MLK Jr., Abraham Lincoln and JFK - people who died for doing the right thing, killed by "faceless men, fuckers"... well said Mr. Vedder.

Eddie once said that this song is about God. And I am sure that it is about Jesus. He was walking on sea during his life- it was one of his miracles. In this song are more parallels with Jesus life.I love this song.
