Stern is not one of my favorite violinists (lacks imagination often times). However, this is definitely one of my favorite recordings of the Tzigane (Stern also has a great Lalo too). Full of life and passion, just what I love hearing from a violinist.

People that comment on youtube AMAZE me. From the first note you can just hear his imagination and "gypsyness" coming out of him. Criticize all you want, but this is a great master's interpretation and that's all there is to it. It's damn good.

Just a small detail, but what he does at 05:19 just blows my mind...One of the greatest recordings of this piece.

I believe that Tzigane is a little bit about discontrolling your self. But, you know, it's just my opinion...

How could you say that about a beautiful violinist. It is his own interpretation of the piece. If you were a musician you would know that everyone has there own style.

He is wonderful, but what matter of it if most of them can't play it? That's doesn't say much at all. I wouldn't call most people here "critics," but you certainly don't need to be able to play it to have taste. By your logic, it would be perfectly fine to say Stern shouldn't be aloud to comment on a cellist's performance because he wouldn't be able to play it himself.

Not that I should really Give a Damn...But Paganini set Violin Playing as High as it Could Go.... Picture Things without him...

I'm not really into violin music, but this piece is awesome! Really like that eerie sound of the Hungarian Gypsy scale. This piece sounds really creepy on cello. I personally like Henryk Szeryng's version of this is best, mainly the sound, and his style. Great piece.

ok, if you can't play the piece, you can't complain about how stern interprets it. You pricks get over yourselves!!! There is no way in hell you should be disrespecting one of the most influencial virtuoso violinists of our time!!
