I think Tom & Dick might be amused at the idea of being held up as avatars of "safe" comedy. ("Hey, we got away with it! Ha!")

Actually, to this day, very few comics have sex on stage, though in my personal experience at home, it does seem to make my wife laugh more effectively than my jokes.Anyway, the Smothers Brothers were well-known for their often very-blue double entendres. That they played the parts of well-scrubbed Mama's boys just made it that much funnier. ("A puma in the crevice!!!")An eternal principle of comedy is: clean is in the imagination of the beholder.

God bless the Smother's brothers, I'm going to see them in August at Niagara Fall's casino, can't wait. Tommy rules, not many comedians like this that are funny and don't swear!

Their mouths didn't match because the syncronization is off after so many years of this video surviving. I'm really amazed there is as much of it viewable as there is. Old video tape decomposes (note all the "scrambles" during the playing). Someone must have had this in proper storage for a long time. Lucky for us!
