A Vector W8's CD is quite low. The car is not aerodynamically challenged. It is gear limited. It is capable of exceeding 200 mph without any issues. 242mph is what the car is gearing limited to.

The transmission has a 3 speed ratchet shifter on the left side of the car. My right hand is on the wheel, left on the shifter. It is a dual mode transmission which can be used as an automatic or manually selected.

What is the actual top speed of the W8? I seem to remember at least one magazine claiming that it was severely limited due to aerodynamic drag, but others claim over 200mph. So what can it really do?

It was a showcase of aerospace technology transferred to the street. Body Kevalar and Carbon Fiber, 4130 Chro-Moly Roll cage, Semi Aluminum Monocoque Chassis with Aluminum Honeycomb floor pan. F117A Electroluminenescent display panel, switches and circuit breakers out of the F14 and F16, and the list goes on and on. The car has adjustable boost pressure up to 14lbs, at the factory set 8lbs my car produces 749hp at 14lbs it produces over 1200hp on 110 octane fuel.

Its tough to compare a car designed 30 years ago and built in 1992 to cars of today, but here are factory stats:650+hp,625lbfttq,0-60 3.9sec,1/4 mile 12.0 @127mph,top speed 242 mph. skid pad with suspension set up for the track 1.25g. in street form .98g. This was back when 388hp for a Testarossa was huge. 425hp in a Diablo. Jag, Bugatti and McLaren built cars to combat against it with the XJ220,EB110 and F1. It was the fastest production car in the world at the time.

you have a great car. how does it compare against the ss aero in stat's. horse power, weight of the car, quarter mile etc?

Jerry still has the two WX3 cars. He drives them quite a bit in SoCal.

No, with only 17 Vector W8's total produced for the world. It is to rare to take any chances with. Try to replace a windsheild because of a stone chip. Or the sunroof glass. Body parts etc. There are not many spare parts around for a W8. It is more of a show car than a car you take chances with. You will typically find them in exclusive car collections or high end car shows if you ever see one at all.
