well put wilkyx. like "goodtime charlies got the blues" this has only 2 verses and tells a story you can see and feel. All us working men know, you're stuck on a job, seeing no end, snow or rain, hear her voice, you're alone, and then you know it's a need not just desire. I've written some great songs but this is clarity and truth I ain't found yet. Saw James Taylor the other night and he performed this like a hymn. Beautiful.

Mr. Campbell is probably one of the most talented Guitar players to come down the road! The fusion of jazz with with country is mind numbingly spactacular. Brad Paisley Steve Vai, Neal Schon. It's really Amazing just how great he is... I'm speaking from experience here, I'm not a novice. I'm a professional Musician and have worked with some of the best there is. The song is TIMELESS! I'm in my 40's and I remeber well the impact this Jimmy Web masterpiece had on me... God how I miss those days!

In fact Glen Campbell was a respected and highly sought-after session guitarist before his singing career took off. He was even part of the Beach Boys when Brian started to withdraw from the limelight.

I think he tries to add too much on this version; plus it ends a little short.

Brings back some great memories of when I was a little kid. Reminds me of a time when life was more simple than it is now...when all I needed as a kid was to go out in the yard and play with my friends...Thanks for the post!

You are absolutely right about Jimmy Webb. I had the pleasure of seeing Glen and Jimmy perform together in So Cal about 18 months ago. Jimmy is a very kind and humble man with immense talent. He and Glen are an extraordinary singer/songwriter duo. By the way, Glen Campbell is the most underrated guitar player of all time.
