CntryInVa - Thanks for your reply. I don't know a lot about Chet Atkins but this song made me curious. I'm a bit older than you (50), but I think that country music is timeless. The Statlers voices harmonize so beautifully. I recently bought a dvd of Johnny Cash supported by the Carters and the Statlers in a concert in Denmark and it is just amazing!

Lisburn..wow so sorry you were not able to see the Statlers as they were broadcast..but now with youtube, you get to enjoy too! I'm not an old fart--barley 43--but I know the seniment behind (writting a song for Chet) this song. Chet use to produce just about everybody who was anybody in Nashville--the List would blow your mind...oh--and yeah, he could play the guitar alittle too---lol. Stat's and Chet are great!

JJMinshall, Thank you, now that I know what it is, I can hear it.This is a beautiful song - lyrics are excellent, but a little awkward in places; orchestration is brilliant, melody is beautiful. And the theme--Chet Atkins hand--is spot on. Happy days.

he spoke a language all could understand!! Hope that helps

Like you, cumberland67, I have never seen the Statlers on television. I don't think they were ever broadcast in the U. K. In relation to the lyrics, Chet Atkins was inspired by the picking style of Merle Travis, Django Reinhardt and Les Paul. I hope this helps a little.

I've tracked down Jean-Baptiste {"Django"} Reinhardt in Wikipedia. Chet Atkin's lists Django as the #1 most influential guitar players of the 20th century. Interesting -- live and learn. I still can't figure out what Harold is singing at 2:17. Could he have screwed up?

I've tried to put the lyrics together, and will send them. But I can't grasp a couple of words here and there.1. First line: ...thank you "Jango" [?] Who is that?2. at 2:17 ... spoke a language [could?] understand. Can anyone help on this, please. Sadly, their TV shows never made it to here (Australia).
