Here's the story of I Shot The SheriffWritten and recorded in 1973 by Bob Marley In 1974 while rehearsing for his 461 Ocean Blvd Album Eric Clapton hears it He records it for the album but doesn't like the way it turns out (the rhythm isn't quite right) It is released and reaches #1.Eric has been playing it since in concert always changing it a bit, but always with an extended ending solo.Bob Marley was exrtremely grateful. Reggae was being heard and royalties were coming in.

I don't think that's just your opinion...I think it's an undeniable fact.

Bob Marley still gains new fans each hour and he has been deceased what, 27 years?... Yes the man is a Legend.

In my opinion, Bob Marley is the biggest influence on reggae music.

I'm a hugh Clapton fan, but find this performance shallow. His solo riff was full of his standard cord patterns with no sense of feeling. Shaking your head back and forth does not create originality

Wow! I mean seriously. You are amazingly ignorant...I don't smoke a hint of weed, and I am absolutely astonished by Marley's music. Obviously, Clapton holds him in high regards as well. A hit for 3 years...how misinformed can you be? Marley is a legend that legends(Clapton) look to for inspiration. Take a broader view of life before you end up completely lost. Good luck...

I'm assuming you don't listen to reggae music. Bob Marley is a big influence in the reggae genre.
