Christian Zacharias, piano. Stuttgart Radio Symphony conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti, on the stage of Schwetzingen Palace.Mozart's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, No 8 in C major, K 246 "Lützow".composed April, 1776a nice early work. Hard to believe Mozart composed this just nine months before that masterpiece, the "Jeunehomme" concerto, No. 9, KV. 271.However, the young lady for whom he wrote the K.246 for was not a virtuoso, to say the least....I--Allegro apertoII--AndanteIII--Rondeau (Tempo di Minuetto)

Zacharias is always a pleasure to hear especially his excellent recordings of Domenico Scarlatti (in my opinion the best of the pianists out there for the sonatas).

I just saw Christian Zacharias as conductor and pianist last night, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. I thought he was wonderful. He doesn't show alot of emotion with his face, (as you can tell on the jumbotron) but he really uses his body while conducting. Conducting Beethoven from the piano was interesting to see.
