will never be low huh?? how many blocks have u seen with a rod out the side or a starter bolt broke off... too many people abuse their engines.. some don't know any better and other just don't care... all im tryin to say is that just because a block is a 305 instead of a 350 dont just through it out... as anyone that restores old cars(50's-60's mainly) original parts for these cars are getting harder and harder to find... just as the 350 block will in due time... its a process that never ends

305's can be "unleashed" for a couple grand... with a set of 327 aluminum vortec quick burn heads, a mild cam, accel supercoil, aluminum intake and a 650 holley, and a set of headers... i got all mine for around 2 grand and did all the work myself... now im pushin out about 350 engine horsepower in a stock 305 bottom end.. so wat about 305's??? 350s are gettin harder to find so maybe we'll see more mean 305's to change your minds.

you would be surprised, a 305 can be made pretty powerful...not the most powerful, but if you want low 12s high 11s, it can be done... a set of ported trickflow heads, and a nice cam with a stiff bottom end, should get you there...
