well they're not doing this just because Jesus Christ did that too but because they want to pay God for all the blessings they receieved and at the same time express how sorry they are for whatever they did. I know its kinda weird for you who are not filipinos but this is part of our culture and beliefs especially who lives in pampanga.

This is not right on-my own belief. I amalsoa roman catholic but I do not understand why they're doing this---well,if that kind of sacrifice makes them their well-being,fear with God and believe in Him, then let them do so.Long live, Philippines!-my country

why do people do this? like Ggurl777 said, jesus didnt do all that suffering just so we could make ourselves suffer. he suffered on the cross so we dont have to suffer. thats why he was the greatest being to walk the planet

I don't know it's sounds like it's becoming a tourist spot, not for Holy Week but just to see people whip themselves, thats not right.
