they are infected versions of the humon race. they thoute the had a cure for cancer but it went teribly wroung. the infection spredded throu the air, biting,or blood contact. but 12 million people where imuned to the infection. meaning they cant get infected by the 3 ways. but, all the infected people got hungry and ate almost everybody. so now you know, lol!

wow!! i have never seen this ending before!! and i looooovvee the movie althought both endings are sad because in this one he does not get the cure he worked hard on and in the other he dies.. great job!

i think the original ending was much better and realistic; i think thats why they decided to go with that one. will is supposed to die! if otherwise, he wouldn't be a LEGEND! THINK! legends are supposed to die! (eg leonidas, achilles, elvis)
