This. Is. The. GREATEST.I always thought someone should try to recreate Singin' in the Rain on ice--it seemed perfect! I never thought anyone did it--how glad am I this came up in my "Recommended Videos" section!It's FABULOUS! Nothing could have been done better. It used the original choreography from Singin' in the Rain (one of my all-time favorite movies!), but introduced new stuff too so it fit skating better. Those step sequences were magnificent! In short, it's perfection! Kurt is Gene!

I had a Jazz dance teacher tell me once that figure skating isn't dancing... I told him he was wrong.... I think I am going to send this video to him.... it proves my point.

jbdanfan:Thanks for the name of the movie in which Gene was on roller skates. I am big fan of all the movies that came out of the golden era, except the murder mysteries. Even my 26 year old daughter still chooses "Singing In The Rain" as her all time favorite movie!

Gene actually did several dances that were basically figure skating without the skates: a later scene in Singin' In the Rain and the Pirate ballet. There is more than a passing resemblence in their styles, and thank God to Kurt for doing this!

There's a cool story behind that dance from "It's Always Fair Weather." Gene's neighbors were script writers and they had a roller rink in their backyard. Gene did his thing and the writers said, that's it, we're making him skate in a movie. Glorious.
