Actually, before Kimimaro got his disease, Orochimaru wanted his body. But he couldn't take it yet, same reason Orochimaru didnt take Sasukes body during the Chunin Exams, so he could get as strong as possible. But, Kimimaro couldn't do that, when his disease suddenly hit him

Orochimaru had to wait like 4 years or something before switching bodies. He probably already switched and couldn't switch when Kimimaro didn't have the disease.
