Intelligent Design and Creationism/Evolution Controversy

'Intelligent Design' (ID) is a new form of creationism that emerged after legal decisions in the 1980s hampered the inclusion of 'creation science' in the public school curriculum. In the 20 years since ID appeared, there has been no evidence of it being used to solve problems in biology. Although the scientific/scholarly part of ID has been a failure, the 'cultural renewal' part of ID has been a success, as supporters of ID seek 'restoration' of a theistic sensibility in American culture to replace what they consider an overemphasis on secularism.

Evolution is a fact, simply put. To get to 'Theory' level in science, the highest level of understanding of how something happens, is a major accomplishment. So many folks don't understand or realize this process in scientific methodolgy. It is so easy to witness ignorance when they mix this up. I guess they slept through science class in school. EVERY science course starts out with the Scientific Method explained. They need to take a refresher course or just watch some excellent YT vids.

Id is creationism. It's politically stealthy and vague creationism. Try again!

"The Science is awful." PhD holding scientists use the same methods as secular ones with different presuppositions. False dichotomy argument is incorrect. Most creation scientists seek to give evidence in the affirmative. Look at answersingenesis(dot)org. Theistic evolution is not what most mainstream protestants believe. I am only at 8 minutes in and she has already made a pile of straw men a mile high.

First she lumps ID with all types of Creationism, which is a fallacy. ID is not a subset of Creation Science, it would better be displayed as a Venn Diagram with similarities in between. Then she says that "God created everything in its present form." This is totally not what creationists argue. Creationists do not hold to a lawn diagram of biology, but an orchard, wrong again. Hardly anyone holds to progressive creationism.

No, she's isn't spouting claims that aren't true. You're a ranting nut who doesn't know what your talking about!

yes. feel free to ignore the mountains of evidence which have formed over the last 20 years in support of evolution and simply write off the scientific theory based upon your ignorance of it. Sorry, the real world doesn't work that way. Evolution is true and no amount of condescending rhetoric will stop that.

And, we have the brand new book out this year (2008) from Ken Miller, one of the science witnesses who testified at Dover, "Only A Theory" which shows very informatively and with great verve concerning the Hox Gene and this strawman argument of instantaneous formation of new organs. This really is a strawman as you note Falliblefiend.....

Actually, I found her lecture very informative and seriously factual. I also have discussed some of this kind of materials in my videos on Intelligent Design - Good Religion, ID-iotic Science on my Backyard Professor You Tube site.

you mean proof like in the dna retrovirus? or genome sequencing? or fossil records?i suppose if u ignore all the evidences there are then, yes there would be no evidence.creationists are very good at this. ignoring the evidence and saying i dont see any.i believe the word is ignorance.
