Mate, this is what you get when you take something too seriously, you create an obsession which in this case it's the bible.take a number 1200 and when your obsessed enough with the number you will see that everything has a connection to the number...

good ol' religious debate! I wore myself out on that by the age of 12 for fuck's sake. everybody, to some degree, wears blinders. there is simply too much reality to comprehend at one time. so for whatever reason, genetic promiscuity, god, total randomness, people gravitate to all kinds of different philosophies, employments, hobbies, causes. also, it becomes evident that everybody is far more alike than they are different. we all want happiness, to be important, to love and be loved.

In a time when news is talking point regurgitation, "The Daily Show," "Real Time" and "Colbert Report" always swing the spotlight where it needs to shine. These COMEDY shows tell the truth about issues of self-righteous repression like Intelligent Design and Praying The Gay Away. And they DON'T make it sound like there are two rational sides when there AREN'T. Keep it up, guys! For a comic take on society's repression of homosexuality, do a YouTube search for "MAYBE GAY RAY"

Christians aren't fond of taking personal responsibility for, their religious beliefs, themselves or their actions. This is especially true when it comes to finding a purpose to human existence. The idea that they would have to do this task alone sends them running to the nearest popular theism institution.

I'm an atheist and a student of pragmatic philosophy solipsism and atheism can be mutually exclusive. Your assumption is false materialism and atheism are commonly unrelated athiesm is none belief in theism pure and simple any science related basis for it is irrelavent as the outcome is the same. By what means do you view reality?
Robert951 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
actually, it's funny that you spout out about solipsism, yet you say "This is probably one of the most foolish conclusions possible, given the abundance of objective evidence to the contrary."kind of contradictory arguments don't you think? So either choose one, or give up both.

"You have no meaning or purpose and are simply the result of an accident"Yep, that's usually the case. You think your different? ya, i bet you like to think of yourself as something special. That's your whole mentality, you can't cope with the idea that there is no meaning or purpose. |
