They might use them for ease, but the translation is not in itself the Qu'ran. The Qu'ran is the direct word of God. The translation is just a guide. I do know something, not everything, but something.

So few understand the difference between transcription (converting only the literal words) and translation (composing the words considering idioms and context).When people blindly follow what is literally written, they support the idea of simple transcription.A proper translations BEGINS with transcription, then the challenge is to capture the sentiments of the writer without interpretations by the translator.

They initially informed him it was for inappropriate content. Later, after much protest, they changed it and said it was copyright infringment. I don't believe them.

In fact, Pickthal believed the same thing (he was a Muslim) and he didn't call his a translation; he called it "The Meaning of the Holy Qu'ran". |
