To get an ultra sharp point, make use of a scrap paper, using the pencil at an angel and making fast back & forth motions while also turning the pencil around, producing a almost microscopic point.

Also, for blrnding, I have found that employing used stripped cigarette filters are great, & I also found out that one can also draw with the eraser as well, experiment, you will be surprised at the effects you can produce.

While I can see how in chosing paper can effect the end quality for particular effects, pencils, on the other hand, I discovered I can get any shade with a common #2 pencil that one can obtain with all the various different art pencils they have on the parket.

ohh! I never thought of using paper under my hand while drawing.. (or my highschool art teacher lol)I quit drawing at an early age because I have very sweaty palms and I managed to ruin 80% of my work.. the paper would buckle and of course smear the graphite.I think I will start drawing again thanks to your tip :)
